His mood is known to fluctuate wildly. He must also be abrupt, stubborn and short-sighted.
Tor constantly fought against the jots, who were giants who lived in various places, both in the mountains and in the wilderness, in the forest and in the sea. As a weapon he had the hammer Mjølner, forged by the dwarf Sindre, which hit everything he aimed at, always returning to his hand. It could also be made large or small, depending on what he needed. He also used an iron gauntlet to hold Mjølner, and he had a power belt (Megingord) around the waist.
Thor had a cart that was pulled by two goats; Toothache (the gnashing of teeth) and Toothache (open spaces between the teeth). He could eat the goats, but they were just as alive the next day, as long as he collected all the bones in the skins afterwards. When he drove across the sky with his chariot, it made a terrible noise, this was called han-drønn (thunder). The Jots were afraid of HanTor, so they hid when they heard him.

Tor gets Roskva and Tjalve
One night when he was out riding with his goats, it got so late that he and Loki had to go into a farm for the evening. Here lived a poor farmer and his wife, his daughter Roskva and the son Tjalve, who gave them shelter. On the farm, he slaughtered his goats to eat them with his family. After the meal, Tor ordered that all the legs had to be thrown onto the buckskin. But Tjalve did not do as Tor said, and broke a femur to eat the marrow! The next morning Tor discovered that one of the goats was lame, and realized that the farmer's family did not do as he had said. When he gets angry, the farmer offers him everything he owns. Then he responded by depriving him of Roskva and Tjalve, and since that day they have followed him.
The story tells that Tor once lost Mjølner. Loki found it was the evil jotn Escape who had stolen it, and refused to give it back until he was allowed to marry the most beautiful of all goddesses, Frøya. Heimdall suggested that Thor dress up as Frøya, with two stones as breasts, and Loki dressed up as a bridesmaid. Trym noticed that the bride was eating an unusually large amount for a lady, Loki then explained that she had not eaten anything for 8 days because she was anxiously waiting to get married. Then Trym asked why she had such evil eyes, Loki then explained that she hadn't slept in 8 days either, because she was looking forward to the wedding so much. They then get the hammer from Trym's sister, whereupon Tor smashes all the jots with the hammer, and travels home. After this, the jots make sure they never make the same mistake.
Thor rescues Loki from the jotun Geirrød
The Jotun Geirrød had once captured Loki. Loki is forced to trick Thor there without his hammer and belt of strength. On his way there, Tor encounters a pair of iron gloves, another power belt, and the mysterious Grid staff. When Tor arrives at Geirrød, he first kills his two daughters by breaking their backs. Geirrød gets angry, and throws a red-hot iron rod at Thor. Tor takes the rod and throws it through an iron pillar, further through Geirrød, and into the ground outside. This is how Geirrød died.
